Scope and ContentMemorial stone at Lymington, Hampshire.
Stone enscribed with 'In memory of William Frederic Chambers, KCH, MD, FRS (Fellow of Royal Society), physician in ordinary to the Queen, who died at Hordle House in the county of Hants on the XVI (16) of December AD MD CCC LV (1855) aged LXIX (69). And of Frances Elizabeth his youngest daughter, wife of the Rev. James Alexander Crozier MA, chaplin to her Majesty's forces who died on the VI (6) of August AD MD CCC LVIII (1858) aged XXXIII (33) years.'
Also contains French phrase 'en dieu est tout' (in God is all).
Rubbing was posted in Southampton by book post to [Reverend] W. F. Chambers (presumably Frederic's son Willie), 2 Marine Terrace, Folkstone Kent. Postal mark dated 1864.
Poor condition, multiple tears along creases, very fragile.
