Scope and ContentThe catalogue of the library presented to the College by the Marquis of Dorchester after the Great Fire of London. The catalogue of the library presented to the College after the Great Fire of London by the Marquis of Dorchester (1606-80).
It enumerates over 3,200 volumes, and divides them into Four classes-Libri Mathematici, Libri Juris Civilis, Libri Medici and Libri Philologici.
The catalogue is beautifully written on vellum, and occupies 149 leaves.
Binding is by Samuel Mearne, binder to King Charles II, identified 10. 3. 92 by T.A. Birell FSA. See his English Monarchs and their books: from Henry VII to Charles II. (The Panizzi Lecturis 1986). London, British Library 1987 p. 56 and Fig. 5.
