The original manuscript in the handwriting of the author; with engravings and original watercolour drawings.
Begins with 3 pages of "General remarks on the source of the following eruptions" and ends with 2 pages of notes from Alibert's "Description des maladies de la peau", not found in the printed edition.
With these two exceptions, the manuscript agrees word for word with the letterpress of the printed work of 1817.
There are 72 illustrations:
The first six are coloured engravings, taken, as Bateman explains in the Preface, from Robert Willan's "Cutaneous Diseases" (1808); all the others are watercolour drawings.
Each one of the 72 illustrations corresponds with the plate of the same number in the printed book.
